Cecil Atkission Ford Lincoln is Del Rio’s newest EV dealer - Cecil Del Rio

Cecil Atkission Ford Lincoln is Del Rio’s newest EV dealer!

Cecil Ford Lincoln in Del Rio is proud to announce that we are Del Rio’s newest dealer of Electric Vehicles! We’ve just been certified to start selling these amazing vehicles to the public, and we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you. Read on to learn more about the current EVs on offer and how you can get your hands on one for a test drive! more Ford’s Current EVs on Offer Ford has been selling hybrid vehicles, vehicles powered by a combination of gas and electricity, for over a decade, and they’ve experimented with full electric vehicles in the past. In fact, Henry Ford himself experimented with a battery-powered car all the way back in 1914. His wife was an early EV advocate because EVs were simpler to operate than gas-powered vehicles of the time. Though they’ve been in hibernation for a long time, Ford’s current stable has two very impressive offerings for EV fans: The Mustang Mach-E, and the all-new F-150 Lightning. Mustang Mach-E Ford carried the Mustang nameplate over to this sport-utility EV, and the performance came with it. This is no ordinary SUV. One of the benefits of EVs is rapid acceleration and the Mach-E is no exception: the GT Performance variant of the Mach-E can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds! That’s supercar territory from a vehicle with four doors and loads of cargo space. Ford also made range anxiety a thing of the past by installing a large battery pack that can take you over 300 miles. F-150 Lightning The newest F-150 is arguably the most capable EV on the market today. The F-150 Lightning takes what’s best about the best-selling vehicle in the country and makes it better by adding features like multiple 120 volt power outlets throughout the vehicle, a cavernous ‘frunk’ adding more cargo space to an already large amount, whisper-quiet operation, a mid 4-second 0-60 time, and all time 4-wheel drive thanks to an electric motor at each wheel. Combined with an EPA-estimated range of 320 miles, this F-150 is one capable truck. Come in to Cecil Del Rio Today! If you’re interested in driving one of these vehicles, Cecil Del Rio is the only place in town that has them. Give us a call today at 830-469-1208 to check for availability and schedule a test drive. You’ll see why when the product is the same, the dealer makes the difference!

Why It’s Important to Change Your Oil in Del Rio Heat

Why It’s Important to Change Your Oil in Del Rio Heat

You need only step outside your door to know this summer isn’t messing around. We’re on track to set new records in Texas for the hottest summer in over ten years, so keeping your new Ford from Cecil Atkission properly maintained is important. What does extreme heat do to an engine? We’re glad you asked! Let’s go over the reasoning behind keeping your engine’s oil clean, and why it’s doubly important when the summer temperatures start to climb. Let’s get into it! more All internal combustion engines need lubrication to function properly. Your Ford’s engine has a large, heavy rotating crankshaft along with up to eight pistons moving up and down the cylinders at astonishing speeds. As your engine spins, these metal parts rub against each other creating friction and heat. Without lubrication, the heat created from this friction would cause your engine parts to get so hot that they would melt. Needless to say, your Ford’s engine won’t function for very long that way. That’s where engine oil comes in. Your car’s engine has an oiling system inside it that keeps all the internal parts coated with a thin layer of oil at all times while the engine is running. Engine oil is specially designed to continue providing lubrication in hot or cold weather, so no matter how hard you work your engine, the oil stays attached to the moving parts and acts as a protective layer, reducing friction between the parts and, crucially, helping to dissipate heat. Engine oil can only keep doing this job for so long before it becomes full of carbon deposits and loses its ability to lubricate components. This is why fresh engine oil resembles the color of cooking oil, and used engine oil is black and muddy. If you neglect regular maintenance and forget to change the engine oil, it will eventually turn to sludge and can cause serious damage to your engine. During the hot summer months like we have in Del Rio, changing your oil regularly is key to keeping your engine healthy because the exterior temperatures increase the ambient temperature of the oil and decrease its usable lifespan. A good rule of thumb is to change your engine’s oil once every three months or once every 3,000 miles, whichever comes first, though this varies depending on the vehicle. Check your vehicle’s manual for the proper oil change interval and stick to it to avoid engine damage and costly repairs. If you need further information or assistance with your vehicle maintenance, contact Cecil Del Rio’s Service Department. We can handle any and all maintenance for your vehicle, from oil changes to A/C repair. It is easy to schedule service appointments online. Check us out and you’ll see why when the product is the same, the dealer makes the difference!

2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition Coming to Del Rio

Ford Celebrates 75 years of the F- Series with the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition!

Ford is nearly synonymous with trucks. The F-150 has been the company’s best-selling vehicle for over 35 years, and America’s number one pickup truck for over 40 years. Ford has sold over 26 million of these trucks worldwide. The F-series has been the benchmark for working vehicles for 75 years, and to celebrate this momentous milestone, Ford is releasing a special edition of the F-150 that is destined to become a future collector’s item. more The new-for-2023 version, dubbed the Heritage Edition, has several unique features that differentiate it from the garden-variety F-150. The options package, available only on XLT series F-150s, includes a striking two-tone paint scheme that harkens back to the paint style on the 70s and 80s F-150s, though it looks decidedly more dramatic on the modern F-150’s svelte body with its aluminum panels and wide stance. The two-tone design follows the same basic style as the older models: one color for the roof and door pillars, another for the midsection of the body, then the same color from the roof on the lower doors, lower body, and trim pieces. What makes this design so striking on the modern F-150 is the colors available: Race Red midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray Atlas Blue midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black Antimatter Blue midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray Avalanche midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black Area 51 midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black All five of these combinations are available with special interior styling cues such as an embossed console cover, special “75 years” decals on the upper windshield and interior, and specially trimmed seat covers with unique inserts. All these elements come together to make an F-150 that looks like no other truck on the road. If you’re interested in learning more about the F-150 Heritage Edition or you’d like to place an order, come see us at Cecil Atkission Del Rio. No matter what vehicle you’re looking for, Cecil Del Rio can help you find it! Visit our website at CecilFordDelRio.com or come see us in the heart of Del Rio! Cecil Del Rio’s Favorite Spots to Cool Down This Summer

Cecil Del Rio’s Favorite Spots to Cool Down This Summer

Texas heat is a season all its own, and Del Rio sits squarely in one of the hottest spots in the state. Cooling down isn’t just an option on a hot summer day in Del Rio, it’s a necessity. Luckily, we’re situated near some of the best locations in the state to grab a cool dip. Read on to find out about some of our favorites, and if we’ve missed any, make sure and visit us on Facebook and let us know about it! more Devil’s River State Natural Area Situated just north of Del Rio, Devil’s River State Natural Area offers remote, rugged landscape and diverse wildlife alongside spring-fed swimming holes and hiking trails. Covering over 37,000 acres, Devil’s River is as isolated as it is beautiful. You won’t find picnic tables or RV hookups here, just mountainous terrain and limestone-lined rivers and creeks funneling clear, cold water south to the Rio. We heartily recommend spending an hour or two wandering the miles of hiking trails criss-crossing the area before heading to one of several swimming pools along the river and diving straight in. The water’s plenty cold, even in the summer. Garner State Park If you’re looking for a more prepared spot with amenities, Garner State Park is a good pick. At just under two hours away from Del Rio, this state park offers campsites, cabins, and screened shelters to accommodate large groups or families. Running through the park is the infamous Frio River, so named because of the chilly water temperatures year-round. Swim, wade, paddleboard, or float an innertube down the 2.9 miles of river inside the park, then head back to your campsite to freshen up before hitting the park pavilion for dancing every night during the summer. Garner fills up quickly, so you’ll want to plan ahead for a trip, even if you’re not camping. San Felipe Springs You can’t visit Del Rio in the summer without a stop at one of the spring-fed pools along San Felipe Creek. The springs are the sole source of drinking water for Del Rio, and are famed for their clarity and cleanliness. The length of the creek is dotted with ten springs that pump millions of gallons of cold, clear water up from the Edwards Aquifer every day, and are perfect for a day frolicking with the family. The headwaters are on private property, so stick to the prepared pools inside Del Rio proper or just upstream. Wherever You Go to Swim, Let Cecil Atkission Ford Lincoln Take You There! If you’re keen to visit the local swimming holes, make your first stop Cecil Atkission Ford Lincoln in Del Rio. Whether you need an SUV to transport the entire family to Garner or a rugged 4x4 to get up the rough roads around Devil’s River, we’ll make sure you have peace of mind behind the wheel. Visit us online at CecilFordDelRio.com or at the dealership at 2700 Veteran’s Blvd and you’ll see that when the products are similar, The Dealer Makes the Difference!

Or, let your inner carnivore loose and enjoy a king-size smoked turkey leg! Hot Pit BBQ has an ample indoor seating area, and also serves their food to go with curbside pickup. Be sure to ask about their event catering as well. Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ Next is a name familiar to any Texan who loves BBQ: Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ. Rudy’s has been serving Texas BBQ since 1989 and operates stores and restaurants all over the state. They are famous for their combination of great food, great service, and their collection of gifts and branded merchandise for sale alongside a stunning array of smoked meats. From their humble beginnings with a combination store, bbq joint and gas station just outside San Antonio to more than 40 stores and restaurants all over the southwest, Rudy’s is an institution. But don’t let their big britches fool you, when it comes to BBQ, Rudy’s is the genuine article. They prefer slow burning oak wood to the more common mesquite for their smoked meats. Paired with their house made ‘sause’ and secret dry-rub, this combination makes for a truly delectable BBQ experience. Aside from the staples of brisket, ribs, sausage, turkey and chicken, Rudy’s has a few items you won’t find in other BBQ joints such as Green Chile Stew, Prime Rib, and smoked pork loin. They even have breakfast tacos! Don’t skip the dessert menu either, the peach cobbler is not to be missed.
